We are staying in the 30A area, how far are you from us?
The Panama City Beach location is the closest marina to you. Depending on your exact location we are about 25-45 minutes east of 30A. Top ⬆
What do we need to bring?
While we supply all of the fishing gear needed, we do not supply food or drinks, including bottled water. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink on board. We also suggest bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock with high SPF. In the spring, fall, and winter a light jacket is always a safe bet. Top ⬆
Can we bring alcoholic beverages on the boat?
Feel free to bring alcoholic beverages. Please try to bring all drinks in plastic or aluminum cans ~ not bottles. Try not to bring any glass bottles if possible. Please note: Drinking is allowed, drunkenness is not. Top ⬆
Can I bring my own rod and reel?
We have top-of-the-line rods and reels for every type of fishing we offer. This being said you are still more than welcome to bring and use your own, as long as it has monofilament line and not braided fishing line. We do not allow braided line. It can get tangled in the underwater bearings causing costly repairs. Top ⬆
Do we pay for our live bait?
Depending on targeted species live bait could be needed. We furnish all the frozen and cut bait you can use. We also furnish all the live bait we catch in our bait traps. If you would like to have more live bait beyond what we catch in our traps, we can either stop at the bait boats on our way out and buy more or we can fish for bait on our way out to the fishing grounds. We do not provide the bait if we stop and purchase it at the bait boats. Top ⬆
How early should we arrive for our trip?
Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Top ⬆
How big are the boats?
The Hooked Up is 42ft and can take 16 passengers. The Game Changer is 52ft and can take 20 passengers. The Lady Raye is 43ft and can take 6 passengers. Top ⬆
Can we get our fish cleaned and who will clean our fish?
The crew on the boats is not allowed to clean your catch. The fish market is located directly behind our boat at the marina. They will clean, bag, and ice your catch. They will even hold your catch for up to 3 days. The cost is .80 cents per pound for cleaning. In Apalachicola, fish cleaning is yet to be determined but can be provided for a fee. Top ⬆
Are the boats air-conditioned?
Absolutely! We have more than 2 ½ tons of air to keep you cool! Top ⬆
Are there restrooms on board?
Yes, we have a very clean restroom and a household-size toilet on each vessel. We also have a sink with fresh water. See the ‘Boats’ page for images. Top ⬆
How far offshore do we go on our trip?
The length of the trip dictates how far offshore we will fish. It could be as close as 1 mile out or as far as 200 miles out. Ask the captain for more details when booking your trip. Top ⬆
Is there a deckhand to assist us throughout our trip?
Yes, we always have an experienced deckhand to help make the trip as enjoyable and successful as possible. And remember the deckhand works for tips… 🙂 …10 to 20% is customary. Top ⬆
When should I book my trip?
We recommend booking your trip as far in advance as possible, to secure your preferred boat and the date of your trip. June, July, and August are our busiest months and we typically stay booked 2 weeks in advance. However, you can always check with us for last minutes openings due to cancellations. During the spring, fall, and winter months it’s a little easier to reserve your trip once you arrive in town. We still recommend booking before you arrive to secure your preferred date. Top ⬆
Are there places on the boats where we can get out of the hot sun?
Absolutely!! The main cabins have ice-cold air-conditioning and lots of bench seating. We also have 4 bunks below on Hooked Up and 8 bunks below on Game Changer, if needed, and of course, a full-sized restroom. The Lady Raye has 4 bunks below and a fully covered rear deck so you can fish in the shade all day long. See ‘Boats’ page for images. Top ⬆
What happens if the weather is too bad to go on our trip?
If we have to cancel your trip due to bad weather or mechanical failure there is no charge at all to you. We will do our best to reschedule your trip with us on a different day if it fits your schedule and ours. If we are already booked we will do our best to send you out with another charter that we recommend. Top ⬆
What is the age limit for the boat?
Our youngest passenger was 11 days old. This being said we have no age limit. Kids under 6 ride for free. Top ⬆
How many people can I bring?
Due to licensing regulations, we can accommodate up to 16 passengers in total on Hooked Up and up to 20 passengers on Game Changer. The Lady Raye can accommodate 6 passengers. This number DOES include ALL children. Top ⬆
Should we bring a cooler to put our fish in while we are out on our trip?
No, please leave coolers for your fish in your vehicles. We have a large ice chest on board to put your catch in. Just bring enough coolers for your food and drinks. Top ⬆
The best way is to just call Capt. B.J. He will gladly answer your questions and take your reservation over the phone or by email: Contact Details Here. Most people just hold their reservation with a credit card over the phone. You can also reserve by mailing a check or money order. Top ⬆
What if I need to cancel our trip?
If a trip must be canceled due to weather or mechanical failure, the trip deposit will be refunded in full. Weather cancellations are at the Captain’s discretion. Trips can be canceled outside of 30 days at no charge. Trips canceled 2 to 30 days prior to the trip will be charged 1/2 of the trip cost. If we are able to refill the canceled trip with another trip there will not be a cancellation fee. Trips canceled within 48 hours or no-shows will be charged the full price of the trip.
So, truly, you are best off never canceling your fishing charter. While the financial cost of canceling a fishing charter is less than fun. Missing out on landing that beautiful record deep sea fishing catch, well, that is something else entirely. Top ⬆
If you still have questions, please call or message Captain B.J. on (850) 774-8333 and he will be only too happy to answer them for you.
We look forward to seeing you on a fishing trip soon! Top ⬆
