Bottom fishing is another technique we frequently use on our charters, and it’s particularly effective for targeting reef-dwelling species.

Now, bottom fishing involves dropping a baited line to the seafloor, where many species of game fish like to hang out. We use this method over reefs, wrecks, and other structures where fish like Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, and Triggerfish tend to congregate. We also target specific types of flatfish, like Flounder, which stay close to the bottom.

  • 6-hour trips, all the way up to 2-day trips
  • Four-day trips for the adventurous
  • 2-hour increments of 6, 8, 10, 12 hours
  • Further offshore than our trolling trips
  • 1 to 3 hours out there & back to the marina
  • 10 to 50 miles range from shore

Bottom Fishing Charters

When it comes to tackle, bottom fishing typically requires heavier gear compared to other types of fishing due to the water depth, the size of the fish we’re after, and the need to haul the catch from the ocean floor. We generally use stout rods with strong lines, and the bait is taken down with a weight or sinker.

Some species, such as Grouper, are more likely to go for live bait, so we’ll adjust our approach based on what we’re targeting and what the fish are biting on that day.
